Paediatric First Aid (Classroom Day + E-Learning)

From September 2025, the updated EYFS statutory framework introduces new Paediatric First Aid (PFA) requirements for all early years providers. This applies to nurseries, schools, and childminders across the UK, making accredited training vital for compliance.

Our Full Paediatric First Aid course is designed for anyone working with infants and young children, giving you the skills to respond quickly and effectively in an emergency. Fully aligned with the 2025 EYFS and Ofsted guidance.

What You’ll Learn

01 Emergency Response & First Aid Essentials

  • Roles & responsibilities of a Paediatric First Aider
  • Safe scene assessment & prioritising actions
  • Effective communication with children & infants
  • Primary & Secondary Survey (DR ABC)
  • Recording & reporting incidents

02 CPR, AED & Recovery

  • Infant & child CPR (with manikin practice)
  • Safe use of AED on paediatric casualties
  • Knowing when to start/stop
  • CPR Placing infants/children in the recovery position & monitoring breathing

03 Choking, Seizures & Medical Emergencies

  • Identifying & treating partial/complete airway obstruction
  • Hands on choking response using manikins/vests
  • Anaphylaxis and Allergies
  • Recognising seizure types (absence, focal, febrile, generalised)
  • Managing seizures and post-incident care

04 Wounds, Bleeding & Shock

  • First aid for minor injuries: cuts, grazes, bruises, nosebleeds, burns & splinters
  • Controlling bleeding (minor to severe)
  • Optional: tourniquet & wound packing for catastrophic bleeding
  • Managing shock & recognising life-threatening injuries (amputations, internal/penetrating wounds)
